Coming off its first loss on Thursday to 2nd ranked Culver Academy, McDonogh, ranked 3rd in the DigitalSports National Lacrosse Rankings, got right back on the field to face 29th ranked Gonzaga.
After an even 2-2 first quarter, McDonogh scored four answered second quarter goals, taking a 6-2 lead into halftime.
McDonogh tacked on two more goals early in the third before Gonzaga started to step up. Timmy Monahan, who led the game with five goals, helped Gonzaga net five second half goals, yet McDonogh’s offense was relentless, taking a comfortable 10-7 victory.
McDonogh’s powerful offense had six different goal scorers, with four hitting the net twice. Trey McGee quarterbacked the offense with four assists and a goal for himself. Robert Clark added on two goals and three assists.
Now back on track in the win column, McDonogh advances to 7-1 on the season. The Eagles host Severn on April 4.
